We probably have 20 devices in the house connecting over Wi-Fi to one of
my two internal Wi-Fi networks.

My wife's HP laptop from work will only connect to my next door
neighbor's Xfinity open channel (needs Xfinity user and password). Then
she can VPN into work just fine, so it is secure. She can't connect to
our own Wi-Fi.

I could not figure this out. I tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig
/renew with no effect.

Try deleting the saved config for your routers SSID and recreating it
from scratch. If your unspecified router(s) are dual band, delete
both bands. Some connection managers allow multiple entries for the
same SSID, so look for duplicates.

Xfinitywifi does NOT use encryption to connect, so you might have a
problem with the encryption settings on your router or possibly her
laptop.

Check for updated firmware for the router. You never know what bugs
might have been fixed (or introduced).

We can go into more detail after you disclose the laptop, OS version,
connection manager software, and router maker and model number.
